Saturday Spotlight…Vol. # V

on October 6, 2012

My fifth edition of Saturday Spotlight is  for someone that I think has a really heavenly voice…the one and only Celtic goddess herself, Enya.  After the initial listening of “Watermark”, I was hooked, baited, drawn and quartered.

A very versatile performer of such hits as “Orinoco Flow”, “Wild Child” (personal favorite), “Only Time” (another one), and “Caribbean Blue”, her vocal range is nothing short of stellar.  On a personal note, the entire “Watermark” CD was playing (in a meditative state) on a night that I hold dear to my heart…and, no, I am not sharing B-P

One of her key elements to her music is her multilingual songs.  She does have quite a few in her discography that are sung in different languages, like “Cursum Perficico” (English Latin), “Lothlorien” (Gaelic), and “Oiche Chiuin” (“Silent Night”, Gaelic) are a couple of examples.

She will always hold a special place in my playlist…now and forever.

Anniversary Note:  Today marks the 23rd year since the passing of a woman that had a song named after her…Bette Davis, the actress passed away on October 6, 1989.  Also of note, professional wrestling commentator Gorilla Monsoon passed away in 1999, some five months after my father passed away…both men equally prevalent in my growing up.
