Saturday Spotlight…Vol. VIII

on November 10, 2012

So, for this latest edition of the Saturday Spotlight, I figured that I would go old-school again…this week’s segment will be highlighted around a band that started recording albums when I was just knee-high to a grasshopper…the greatest rock band in the world…KISS!

For those of you that may not be old enough to know of them, let me clue you in.  This is a band that I have been into since I was very young, have seen their movie (KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park {look it up}), have seen them twice in concert, and own just about all of the albums in their discography.  One of the best bands to come out of the seventies (and are still performing), these four guys that started in New York have become a legendary household name in rock-n-roll.

Originally comprised of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss, the band has since gone through many personnel changes (one of whom, former drummer Eric Carr, died tragically young of natural causes) but their music and style have never changed.  They have and always will be THE band to know of if you want to “Rock and Roll All Night” (sorry, couldn’t resist).

With my computer giving me issues that cannot be resolved quickly, this will be a rather abbreviated Spotlight.  On the plus side, though, at least I have done my job, planting the seeds of knowledge for the uneducated.  KISS has been, and always will be, on my Top Ten lists (see the previous tenth post) for whichever subclass to categorize them (iPod playlist, all-time favorites, rock band, gimmick artists, etc.) and shall forever be loved.
