For my next installment of the Saturday Spotlight, I figured that I would finish educating you about Within Temptation.  I think that, if I’ve mentioned someone on this blog, you shouldn’t be left in the dark as to why they have rated a mention.  This next post will give you an in-depth review of their five-album discography.

Created in 1996 by Dutchwoman Sharon den Adel and fellow Dutchman Robert Westerholt, this group has set my iTunes collection afire, with such hits as “The Howling” (all-time favorite; one listen and you’ll see why), “Angels”, “See Who I Am” (featuring Life of Agony vocalist, Keith Caputo), “Ice Queen”, “Mother Earth”, “Our Farewell”, and “Memories”.  This band’s current (5th) album, “The Unforgiving”, is a multimedia experience, as it is a concept album as well as a comic book series (which I don’t have but I would be willing to add to my expansive comic book collection) which tells a wicked story (won’t spoil it LOL).

This group will always hold a place in my collection because, although they have unfairly been compared to Evanescence, Sharon den Adel’s voice is superior to all, save Charlotte Wessels of Delain.  Her excellent (sometimes entrancing) vocals combined with the musical tones from the band is just something that you “have to be there to enjoy”.  Speaking of, they also have a lot of live albums that were released (mostly in Europe) which, if you can get your hands on them, you would also enjoy (because sometimes live music has a weirdness all its’ own).

Here, if it works, is the video of “The Howling”

With this week’s view from the left, have a beautiful weekend and we’ll do this again next Saturday (or before, if I can pry myself away from the book I need to severely get moving on…/,,,/ ROCK ON DUDEZ /,,,/
